Why not jailtime for the CEOs and employee's. There are researchers who hack. They have to get permission first or go to jail. If an agentic AI is an extension of yourself.. then they just committed a crime.
It wouldn't be hard to put it in a harness with only whitelisted domains, that you have permission from. It was foreseeable that not taking that step would lead to the commission of a digital crime.
Something tells me no arrests will happen. But if I ran a small company that started hacking randoms with a small crew, they wouldn't hesitate to charge.
Run a large enough company and you are basically immune to all laws.
Maybe it's helpful to not ascribe will to next word predictors running on someone's computer. An AI did not hack anyone. Some idiots running some software recklessly did.
