Wouldn't you be worried that if you are in jail and the war that justified conscription heats up that they would be able to grab you and throw you on the front line anyway? They do need drone fodder.
Basically there are more of you than them. Letting them go door to door and complying because you are too weak to resist allows them to keep doing it. But since you are likely dead anyway if you comply, if every door they knock was met with maximal violence they wouldn't be able to keep it up indefinitely.
So if they have decided that you are to become a murder and die, oblige them. You might as well murder them and die so others don't have to face the same fate.
But since death and killing are on the table anyway, waiting for them isn't as strategically advantageous. So a better option is to gather people together and hunt the recruiters like dogs. Then they can't even prosecute you because they can't actually prosecute mobs. They will find one or two or even ten they can. But 10 in a few hundred is nothing. Almost everyone gets away free if your fellow man is not a coward and can be trusted to join such a mob. The best thing you can do is be the change you want to see in the world and not be a coward yourself.
