Macho Musky is always saying I shouldn't be so hard on magnora7 for imposing precrime tyranny, jealous of anyone notable or influential.
Yet for some reason he perpetually want's to smear and slander me, and my efforts to build a fair system free of tyranny (and abrasive asstrolls).
He makes the SaidIt chat topic "Jason loves cock", and when I call out his shit, then he kicks me "this boy is gonna learn manners" - then bans my Edmond_Dantes alt. (My JasonCarswell account was banned by magnora7 some time ago for no given reason - after I'd already stopped using the SaidIt forum.)

Big or small tyranny is ugly, and this is why we need to develop bottom-up organizing AND we need to practice it extensively, not only to break free of our life-long dependence on the cults of personality, experts, influencers, "leaders", and parental figures, but also to have the tools very ready when the shit hits the fan.

They really are not nearly as bad as AOU. Magnora is actually pretty awesome in my book besides his unwillingness to handle the spam on his site in an intelligent way. You have to remember that on this site we of course have the Magnora haters. I think it's largely undeserved. Remember that on Voat we had at peak 200 AOU haters. But on this site we have 2 Magnora haters. There's a difference.
But me being relatively pro-Magnora doesn't mean I give support to every one of his flaws that some of these guys may point out or mean I'd run things the same way. I am more of a free-speech absolutist than he is. But having seen all the sites I have when we compare all the admins out there he's definately on the better end of the spectrum considering what's out there. By a lot actually.
SaidIt will never be Reddit. There are many reasons for this, and at least half stem back to the poor management of magnora7. He's wasted so much potential. And pissed off so many people. It could have been a serious contender.
Because SaidIt will never be Reddit, there's no point in fearing "PowerMods" - especially when no one abuses the power. His pre-crime rule of 40 max subs was spiteful bullshittery aimed at me because I created a lot of great subs (that he wouldn't add to the default sub list). Then since I had a few over his arbitrary limit of 40 (mostly empty subs for personal projects I meant to get to (most of my great subs I was forced to give away over the years)) he took all of them away. The ridiculous irony is that he needs moderators more than ever. Later he banned my account from being able to post or comment, for no given reason (likely because I call out his shit in chat). magnora7 behaves like an egotistical child (and so does Musky).
I like tits too, but that demands a level of trust and constant attention that I won't gamble with on my domains. If I'm going to get in shit, I'd rather it be for anti-authoritarianism than some asstroll's CP posting.

He really doesn't need more mods. He needs more mods given his software choices. Notice that I don't have a ton of spam even though I'm putting almost no time into moderation. It's not just because matrix is less busy. You don't need to be busy at all for them to start paying attention to you. The spammers have tried here and they have failed.
The answer is to solve it with software. And it does take much. The amount of spam filters here is close to none. The difference is that when it does happen I do make some effort. When they first start spamming it's just a test. They are testing your will to remove it. If they see that you won't do anything they will increase the spam. Once you write software to address it late they know you can be deterred from fighting them so they will double down and work around your filter.
Fighting spam is about psychology first, software second, and moderator teams third.
The fact that he has so many posts from github, with non-words lacking a reasonable number of vowels, all to the same sub around the same time. The weakest most lazy effort to program something could catch that.
Maybe he doesn't like auto-moderator. I don't either but it's not the same thing. Ironically there are people on saidit now using literal auto-moderator which is unfortunate because its a tool that's one click away from controlling discourse and generating false consensus.
Here's where I disagree with anti-Magnora-ism. Magnora does not care about his website. The difference is that I understand that he is allowed to not care about his website. He is 100% allowed to do that and it doesn't make him a vilian. I just don't understand vilifying him over it. That's the thing about owning something. You are allowed to care about it exactly the amount you do.
I just don't get people who continue to use it and act like they've been wronged by his neglect. It's partially why I made Matrix. If a site sucks people need to just stop using it. I think he would be ok with that. He's moved onto other focuses in his life and that is his to do. If the site remains good in his absense then people keep using it. If it doesn't people migrate away. That was his gamble to make when he chose to change his attention. It seems like he's comfortable with this gamble. The problem is the migrating away part. People can't seem to do it. It's interesting to me that the barrier is lower for people to take something personally than it is for them to change websites. He's trying to drop hints that he is ok with everyone leaving. That's half of what the cloudflare non-sense is about. He's ok with people having a bad user experience even if there are other ways to solve the problem that require a small amount of effort because he's dropping a hint that he is not working on saidit and if people leave that is ok.
I just don't see why we have to dislike him as a person.

With d3rr, they started it under much different pretenses than "not-caring". They roped in many keen folks on the promise of building a good alternative for free-discourse and squandered great potential from closer to the beginning of this new critical era (post Smith-Mundt modernization).

He was very friendly to new users, then eventually and unexpectedly would turn very sour on many, if not most folks. I can't even tell you how many people related this same story. I took it hard for a few months when it happened to me, then chose not to let him define me. He's a shitty debater, a shitty "leader", and a shitty admin - and a terribly shitty collaborator. He's pretty good at expressing ideas (not debating), and is politically aware - but he's not remotely as wise as he pretends.
