This is going to make kind of an awkward situation. We're going to find ourselves on one side of a war between Russia and Europe. Or at least Europe will want us in one. And to justify it either we or Europe will be saying that Russia is a fake democracy that kills their opposition. But that will apply to Germany as well.

How is the US supposed to favor European countries when it's supposedly pro-democracy zealots seem to do the opposite of anything that is actually democratic?
