I do too. Haven't seen an ad in, ever. This extension will also remove the sponsor blocks. I don't have a lot of experience with it. But it seems to work.
I used to get all the things, even when I didn't use them.
I didn't have tab problems then.
Plus now I understand the privacy/security/surveillance issues.
Now I'm pretty minimal for addons. Currently Waterfox.

Not extensions, but Tubular for Android (Newpipe fork) and SmartTube for Android TV both block ads and incorporate SponsorBlock.
I use Brave which blocks YouTube advertsing.

Download videos from YouTube, it used to work until YouTube killed it.
