I like that she does constitutional research. She did say that the only way to fix a republic once it has become corrupted is to remove the corruption. I'm going to have to disagree. Republics are structured for corruption. Corruption is just how they work.

If you want to get rid of it you have to adopt something like the Swiss model where there is a direct democracy component and we can just straight up say nope to anything that doesn't benefit us. If you give someone unaccounted-for access to the castle and have a process where they have to pay a lot of money to get in the castle, they are going to ransack it when they get in. It's just the game structure we've set up.

Agreed.
It's not like they've invented corruption since 1776.
It's always been rigged.
It's just more complex now, with greater centralized control, accelerating.

direct democracy

I do like that. I was campaign manager for my friend in the None of the Above Direct Democracy Party, but he was too focused on knocking on doors. I wrote an email / open letter to them about helping with branding and media - but never heard back from them. I've considered running in those parties, and maybe one day I will. NOTA is still provincial, but the former national NOTA changed to the Direct Democracy Party Of Canada, their original name choice (long story). Looks like DDP is no longer ( https://DirectDemocracyParty.net ).

TIL: Pirate Party of Greece's members voted to remove an explicit reference to direct democracy from its principles in 2013, the only European Pirate party to do so, then reverted it in 2025.

Earlier today I heard that Norway has the least corrupt government - mentioned in relation to the fact they are actually arresting and sentencing corrupt officials via the Epstein files.
