I agree that studying a population through the people who end up institutionalized in one way or another is a huge bias. That shouldn't have been considered valid ever. But selecting for people without is also a bias. "I selected 60 well adjusted people and, they were all well adjusted." Part of me wonders what "couldn't tell them apart" actually measured. I'm sure there are statistical variances between the two populations in some way.
