Clickbait title is clickbait.

That is true. It seems to be the latest trend in titles is titles with no information at all.

"Huckabee meets with nuclear secret stealing traitor," actually conveys some information and you would think would grab attention better anyway.

Please reconsider grabbing titles from DeArrow. Users will only feel gaslighted the first time they visit this website. They can learn how to use a website people aren't dumb.

I did make one positive modification in that direction. If you post a video whose title is all caps it will convert it to leading caps. It's triggered if over 50% of the text is all caps. It's not just about gaslighting. There is also a chance the user wants that title.

I could maybe put a link below if it detects there is a youtube url, 'grab title from DeArrow'. But I also think the last time I checked the dearrow API might not be open. And ultimately only 0.5% of videos on youtube have dearrow titles and some of their titles straight up suck. That's why it would have to be opt in.

I looked up the API situation. Apparently DeArrow would require us to put their branding on every page.

If they want the clickbait title they can still manually change it. By simply changing the behaviour of the autofill we cover 95% of the cases while keeping the user in control for the remaining 5% of weirdos who insist on clickbait titles.

Freetube grabs titles from DeArrow so if they can do it you can do it right? And I encounter changed titles quite often, in fact. I find them to be good titles as well. Have you tested Freetube yet? Maybe use it for a while so you can experience the difference.

Okay I just saw ur last paragraph I was reading the paragraphs one by one replying but Freetube doesn't have the word DeArrow plastered all over the interface so that's weird.

I did install the DeArrow extension for a while which simply modifies youtube itself. It lets you quickly swap between the modes. I found I didn't like the DeArrow titles because sometimes it wouldn't sell watching a video at all. I get that manipulative marketing tactics are bad but a lot of these titles weren't descriptive of why you would want to watch it. I think a title should try to sell the video. Doing that responsibly and not lazily is better.

I just checked on this video. DeArrow wouldn't have improved this title. The real solution is that if a user has just watched a video themselves they know what it is about and should describe what it is if the youtube title is retarded.

I looked through the suggestions attached to that video and only 3 out of 20 had any significant change and 2/3 of those were degradations IMO. Part of the problem is a lot of dearrow titles end up with a third person pov when it just feels odd.

Alright then. Luckily we can vote. I'm just gonna downboat clickbait titles as an alternative solution then.
