It's a basic thing but the chat now has better connection management.

Before I considering adding this to IDEAS4MATRIX, I wanted to see if it's even programmatically possible. For Chat, do you have the ability to implement a notification sound when a trixer (MATRIX User) receives a chat? Use case, I'm doing something else on the board, and not actively monitoring the Chat. The pace of the Chat will undoubtedly pick up with more trixers, a message sent would likely scroll beyond the viewable portion of the chat screen, a sound would alert me to scroll up to find the chat message.

Yeah. I was thinking about adding that. I already have it in my list but sometimes with my system it helps to add it twice. I'm thinking maybe just a check box for alert right below the chat. It wont look sexy. I guess more refined UI-wise would be a little menu in the top right of the chat where you could expand and do a few things.
I guess there are a few related features that could exist:
Notify on any new message
Notify when a particular user sends a message
Notify when you are mentioned
I'm picturing that the first one is probably the highest priority of the three and the other two would live in my system and maybe might happen some day.

I think that makes sense.
What kind of horsepower does this site have? In other words, how expandable is this site in terms of adding bells & whistles before performance takes a significant hit? Is the back-end processing & storage significantly scalable? What would you say that the maximum user base could be for this site? "None of you damn business" would be an acceptable answer. I get it.

It's more of a "I don't actually know. We will cross that bridge when we come to it."
Most bells and whistles have no performance cost. Just developer time and accumulated code base complexity. I think it's worth it though as long as I pace myself.

Some bells and whistles do have a cost though. It's about one quarter of them. And they either can have a lot or a little. Really database is the typical bottleneck. If the feature doesn't involve a database the cost is zero besides coding time.

Actually if you want to help me with that, if you happen to feel proactive, you could hunt sounds for me. Only if you feel like it.
I could also make it a setting in the global settings for users to set their own sound with a url. That might be handy for people to not mix up discord or twitter.

Yeah, What file format would you recommend? Specific max size/length to sound file? How do you want me to deliver them to you? Public domain stuff only, or, are any sound files fair game?

Well I don't care about IP (intellectual property). So anything you think is a good notification sound works. So probably pretty short. I can work with any format but I suppose mp4 and ogg are good because they play on the web. But I can reformat anything.
I wouldn't spend too much time on it, unless you want to go on a sound hunting journey.
If you are up for it you can either give me the original urls or upload them to fileditch.com or catbox.
Yeah man. If you are able to dig up some sound files that would be cool.

I'm tied down for the next few hours, but, I'll get you some samples to look over later tonight when I get freed up.

Hey @0x7 Is there a way to make our CSS file persistent so that we don't have to load it every time we log in?

Huh. I didn't consider that it would clear in some people's browsers. I guess it is true that many browsers have changed the persistence of local storage. I'll have to figure out how I want to solve that. I think some browsers have moved to treating local storage like what session storage was meant for.
But yeah. I should be able to get that to persist better.
