Let's do another music thread. This time relaxing music. Let's see how long we can keep this one alive on the front page. If we get a few people posting one-ish a day, the bump feature should keep it up.
I'll start
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EcSvMFm2ABE - Radiohead | Motion Picture Soundtrack
Pink Floyd - 'Meddle' - whole album (and especially Echoes on the B-side)
"One of these days I'm going to cut you into little pieces."
Never heard that, so here's the Wikipedia article:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/One_of_These_Days_(instrumental)
I especially like the live version where he inserts a Doctor Who riff.
Soothing just hearing those words.
Diamond Veins - French 79 https://gvid.tv/v/Z3iZtjnE8a8
Basically continuing the theme of female vocalists.
New to me.
I really like!
Off the top, some more Chill Fem Vox:
Also some playlists, in various states of order and/or disarray:
One more. Bjork Come to Me. https://gvid.tv/v/HiE8y3KeYsE
Specifically 1993 Bjork, Come to Me.
I thought of this song and album when replying to this post.
Also:
Yes - Fragile
And now I see Rick Beato discusses Roundabout.
Another favourite of mine:
Emerson, Lake & Palmer -
Pictures At An Exhibition
And
Brain Salad Surgery
And
Led Zeppelin II
And
Beatles - Rubber Soul
Perhaps none of these are considered very relaxing for the present thread.
To relax and work for long periods I also play Böhm's Beethoven 9 symphonies, or Mozart's symphonies 25-41, or Gould's Bach 'Well Tempered Clavier'
Before there was Goth and so much negativity there was Yes.
How relaxed do you want to get?
Anderson Bruford Wakeman Howe had Vangelis on a track, and of course there were the Jon & Vangelis albums.
Excellent - I remember Vangelis very well and yet have not listened to them in decades, it seems. They were huge in the 80s' if I recall correctly.
Anyone who liked Tubular Bells also liked Vangelis, I think.
Also Andreas Vollenweider
And Enya
I hesitate to mention him, but Kenny G was I think the most well-known globally for the New Age trend in music.
And you might recall Mannheim Steamroller's Fresh Aire, which - along with Oldfield's 'Tubular Bells' - I think started much of the interest in New Age music (or what it would be called later?)
There's also Michelle Qureshi's work, which might top the charts in this thread as some of the most relaxing music. Contemporary artists also like to use her style of music for immersive installations.
I've not heard of Lavelle, I think, and will have a listen.
Vangelis is one dude, typically solo, but later had guest vox and then live symphonies.
Mike Oldfield is epic, Vollenweider and Enya are great too, along with so many other New Age pioneers (Tangerine Dream, Jean-Michel Jarre, Ray Lynch, etc.). Never did Kenny G.
Caroline Lavelle worked with more upbeat William Orbit too, IIRC.
Extremely good.
Exceptional album too!
AIR - Moon Safari (Full Album - Official Audio) (43:42)
Their later work varies from good to great.
47-minute drone ambient track from 1995:

(didn't relisten to it right now, but that's what came to my mind after reading the title)

Noice!
Kinda reminds me of the poorly titled early classic from
Nothing about it is for airports.
Also kinda reminds me of parts of
And a bit of dark industrial ambient
and other tracks on that album.
I used to listen to a lot of VERY diverse music.
The original:
Covers, among others:
I guess this "thead" slid off the front page.
Might as well share a few of my other faves off the top of my thead. I could do this for weeks.
Other relaxing tracks:
Go well together:
Relaxing albums:
Relaxing musical documentaries:
One of the greatest chill double-albums of all time:
Another great album of the 90s, relaxing but a little more upbeat with pop samples.
I didn't recognize Dimitri (shorter, looked different than the CDs) one night in NYC before he DJed a set. Nice guy.
