The Spiderman pointing fingers situation between Europe, Russia, and The US is getting interesting. The US doesn't like Russia, claiming as its primary reason that it doesn't have fair elections with equal speech rights. And thus we side with Europe over Russia. But now Europe has that same problem.

Then Europe dislikes Russia for its violation of borders and prefers American lead NATO to Russia for it. But the US is getting grabby with land. We talking about it. We've overthrown a country and might get looped into more involvement than simply removing a guy and walking away. We were the number one country that backed Israel's big and violent land grab.

So Russia's real sin is being one of the guys doing bad things. And until it stops doing bad things everyone will prefer countries that do the exact same bad things over them. The no good guy theory is right once again. But some non-good guys we are programmed to see as benign and other non-good guys we are programmed to view as cartoon villians.

I remember reading an article from a couple of years back where a diplomat was cautioning that international law could quickly break down and be replaced by the law of the jungle. And here we are. Though I suppose it was always the law of the jungle; it's just that the veneer of genteel-ness has now been stripped away.
