To fight Iran, bombing buildings and weapons won't work; you have to change the system and get citizens to participate in changing the system, as we did in Venezuela.
We can't win in Iran because no matter how small the enemy is, you need permission from your enemies to win. The Taliban never declared us victors, and so eventually they won. No matter how far we escalate this war, the Iranians aren't going to do that either. So they will either win or force us into a 30 year conflict.
Only winning move was to not play. Pretty reasonable move too considering they never attacked the US. Smart strategists could see that every path forward after attacking Iran was a blunder. The least blundering moves we have now are doing everything to undo the blunder as aggressively as we can.
It's the strongest signal we can send to our enemies. That we don't make losing moves, or at least correct them quickly.
Side benefit. It means a country will have gotten away with attacking Israel. Which will make them think twice about mass bombing civilians.
