I knew which was the correct "g" - to his point, because I've hand-drawn it countless times.
Also of note, much like his "OR IS IT" T-shirt, in 2003 I animated a "Much Count Down" for Much Music (Canadian version of MTV) where I made a vast field of orange and green lit vibrating cubes that would jump around, then lock into place forming a negative-space arrow-shape, then jump around into another arrow shape, and so on. This opening titles blitz was short and was able to loop - so only four directions were needed.
That's interesting. I also got it right but I only had 70% confidence. I've never written it. I've writen & about as many times as I've written any other character and I think if I saw it backwards I'd miss it. I guess when I write it I don't think about forming the shape. It's just a muscle memory.
