It's still virtue signalling. Adults don't need these very obvious guidelines. Well, the interaction happens online so maybe they do. But a lot of what Linus Torvalds says can be taken as ad hominem, he'd be removed from the project in no-time if this CoC were followed, that's why I'm skeptical even of this one. CoCs are for cucks.

I agree. Better than codes of conduct are rules. And few of them.

On the opposite end of the spectrum but still useful is just talking to people like people. Sometimes if there is a problem that is hard for a clear rule to handle but still necessary to address (pretty rare), you can always like,...um, talk to them. It's like human skills amiright.

Agreed!

As few hard rules as possible, black and white.

With as many soft guidelines as needed, with as many examples as necessary to try to clarify the muddy waters.

Codes or rules, really what's the difference - semantics.

Sadly people skills is hard for some, especially emo autists hiding behind their keyboards. Hanlon's razor for people, anti-Hanlon's razor for authorities.

Sadly, many adults need them. Many on SaidIt do.

More importantly, it clearly signals they aren't playing the woke games or the lawfare games.

Linus may not suffer fools, but he throws stones in his own glass house.

May be of interest to @LarrySwinger and @x0x7.
