First, you remove all the cheap dopamine from your life: porn, masturbation, drugs, alcohol, videogames, series, movies, doomscroll, goyslop. After a period of healing. Your mind and body will tell you exactly what is of value to you and where time is well spent.
For me, it's mainly fixing, building and creating.

Cool. What kind of DIY do you do?

Lately it's either; poking around my house, it's a 71' so there's always something to work on. Or working on my vehicles, always something to tidy up/improve/upgrade/fix. It's scary how easy it is to enter flow state and make time disappear, when your head is in a engine bay. Insanely enjoyable for me. Not to much lately is; producing music and learning German.

I definitely need to work on my car. Technically it's not legal right now. I've had mechanics mess this thing up so bad that I've just said, fuck it, I'm learning how to do this. I've invested in the tools ahead of schedule because I knew it was something I slowly wanted to learn. But it's been an up hill battle learning because it's winter and that's really not the temperature you want to learn how to work on cars in.
They quoted me $600 for a clock spring. I got it done for $60. I know I could just find a better mechanic but I'm just done. Next I need to fix some drum breaks they shattered. Then after that I might has to change some subframe bushings they said the did, but it doesn't feel like they did.
I hope you only like to work on cars and aren't an actual mechanic, because sorry man, fuck all mechanics. It's just how I feel right now.

That's the spirit! If you ask me, it's time well spent.
I am not a mechanic and no need for the sorry because I couldn't give 2 shits about what you feel about me.
My grandpa gave me great advice when I was a youngster, he said: Never turn something you truly love into a career or you will loose your passion for it.
When money, people and the politics of it all get involved, you become jaded. It will slowly and insidiously change your perception of what you loved.
