One way I want to diverge from other wms is how virtual desktops are handled. In almost all of them, switching to a different desktop changes the entire contents of the screen. This does not suit my workflow since I have an extra frame for monitoring chats, for example. Sometimes I want to change what's shown in the main (big) frame but keep the chat visible. So I would let each frame have its own virtual desktops.

There are some wms where every screen shows a desktop. To me, frames are analogous to screens. You are splitting your screen into multiple parts. So you can do the same thing but with one physical monitor. I don't know of any wm that has this implemented. You'd have to use something like xephyr or wumwum.

The desktops aren't shared either. I don't like the idea of the same windows moving around between frames. It's too spastic. Now, many wms use numbered desktops. But I don't like the idea of having users remember numbers for each frame. It's too much manual work. So shortcuts will likely focus on cycling to the next / previous desktop. In fact, I've already provided the shortcuts: alt + , / . to switch. The only amendment here is that it switches the desktop inside the focused frame.

The GUI can be employed as well. I like fluxbox's design for this. The top bar already shows icons and a menu. In addition it can show buttons for previous / next workspace, as well as the current workspace's number in between those buttons. Possibly a name although I wonder if it'd get cloggy. I wouldn't want to reduce the menu to a button like in modern GTK programs.

What do you guys think, does that sound like a comfy feature?
