IMO, weird music is pretty synonymous with trippy music. If I'd known, I'd have reclassified and saved a bunch of the trippy music thread tracks.
It also depends what you consider weird.
For example, Dead Can Dance with Lisa Gerrard is weird to many, yet she worked on hugely successful movie soundtracks. Ween's Chocolate and Cheese album features diverse styles and is weird to many - yet successful.
